As a Black person, existing in a racist society it is often heartbreaking and exhausting. Just attempting to keep up with current events can be traumatic. Because of this, it’s easy to understand why it’s important for Black people to be able to disconnect and look for relief from the ways of the world. Deciding to remove ourselves from reminders of our bigoted culture society is more than a matter of seeking stability. It’s a matter of survival.

In seeking an antidote to the world’s stressors, it’s only natural to want to experience Black joy…
